Summer camps often offer a variety of arts options that one can learn and master. From sketching to sports, from sewing to karate, children often love to learn a new skill during the holidays. It is also very useful, as each skill, each form of art instills great benefits within children in their own right.
For instance, sketching, drawing and painting tap into the child’s creative side, helping him come up with great ideas. Similarly sports and martial arts make the child strong and develop him/ her physically throughout. These are all great forms of exercise for both the mind and the body. This is exactly why parents have now begun to send their children for extra classes and other coaching apart from the summer camp, to help inculcate and braided their minds, their capacity to think and be innovative and to give them more experience.
It is also a great way to relax and open your mind. Children, adults all of us are too busy all the time, working or studying and we need some time to cool off. This is exactly what these art forms provide. You can vent off your frustration or take a break from everything easily.
This video also depicts one shush skill that can be mastered and is a great skill to hone.
The little girl’s name was Jesse Jane McParland and she was from Ireland. She was taking part in the Junior WAKO World Championships 2014. When her name was called out, she walked towards the performing area and you could see her confidence and determination as she made her way to the front. She was not scared or hesitant as she walked, and there was no sign of stage fright that children might have when asked to perform in front of so many people, and that too mostly strangers. She stood there patiently, waiting for the music or bell to go off the singing the start of her performance. While there was a considerable delay in such a sign, she stood calmly, composed, waiting for the signal. When the music finally started and the whistle sounded, she bowed and began walking to take her correct position. She paused midway to do her salutation, and then walked starlight up to the audience where she greeted everyone in the Samuria way, extending her hand, clenching fists and bowing. She stepped backwards then, still facing the audience as she went to take her place again. She quickly stepped towards the right and immediately began her performance.
Jesse took out her sword in one swift movement from the holster and started by directing it forwards and spinning around at extremely fast speed, all the while using her sword, extending it as a sign of attack. She dropped her holster in one swift motion and spinner again to face the crowd. She swished and sashed her sword, making it cut through the air and handling the sword, thrusting it forth as though she was really fighting with someone. She spinner around and landed on one knee with the other leg meant backwards. She was fierce and fast in all her actions, and it made one seem like she was stilly fighting rather than just performing. She then continued to spin on her knee only, moving the sword briskly through the air, doing sword fighting so impressively that it actually made guy feel upset that there were not people there for her to use her skills properly against. She continued to actively move her sword, energetically slashing in the wind, jumping and twisting round multiple times all the while extending her sword. She then proceeded to not only impress the audience with her skills with a sword but she also began kicking in the air as she pretended to fight off the enemies. At this same time she was also fighting with sword, making her almost superwoman! She did summersaults, cutting the air with her sharp sword. Her foot work was particularly remarkable, as she spun around, landing stably on one foot.
She then sat down, kneeling on one foot and the other laid backwards and continued with her sword fighting. She did not seem tired or worn out despite constantly moving around and swinging her sword everywhere with great energy. She twirled on one foot, still swinging her sword and then she put it across her shoulder as she bent sideways and lifted her right leg. She began kicking with it rapidly, with the sword balanced on her left shoulder she did not stumble or get misbalanced even for a second. She then twirled around multiple times, attacking with the sword. The crowd cheered and least throughout, clapping and hooting for her.
Within the last 20 seconds, she gained immense momentum, doing all that she had done already again one last time. She did summersaults, she kicked, and she swung the sword as fast as one can possibly think. She twirled around, jumped and landed on her knees and all the while moved her sword at fast pace. She finally sat down on her knees and finished in the typical loud and wild Samurai cry as everyone began clapping and applauding her. She then stood up and took a bow. She kept moving backward, while still facing the audience and took bows after every few steps. She then ended finally by holding her sword upright in front of her face and squatting. The audience whistled and clapped and cheered for her wildly as she left.
It is seldom that we see children nowadays, girls in particular, take such great interest in these old forms of martial arts. And it is even more surprising to see the girl deliver everything so well! Hats off to her, her instructors and her parents for accomplishing all this. Hopefully this will inspire other children to take up these martial arts too.

While children may find it burdensome to do these extra classes burdensome, parents must have time to explain how beneficial this is to their child’s future development. One way to convince them is to show them particular videos like this. It is a sure way to pump the adrenaline in them!
Learning extra curriculum activities is most important in now a days. Children also feel relax and very useful to their future. Parents need to explain clearly to their children about this.
Wow, what a talented little girl! That is really amazing. I’ve always wanted to take martial arts and fencing when I was a kid, but I never did. Even if I had, there’s no way I would have been able to do what she did. I mean, I could barely do somersaults, let alone swing a sword through the air with precise movements while I did it.
This is insane! (In a good way) I totally agree that it is important for children to exercise their minds and their bodies in extracurriculars and classes outside of school. It enriches their lives so much. I am definitely going to do everything I can to support any future children I have in whatever they wish to pursue.
It is good to see young people who still appreciate and involve themselves in such activities. The most common form of exercise nowadays seem to be limited to fingers running across phone and tablet screens, among both kids and adults!
I am amazed when young people are so gifted with skills like this. I know it is important for kids to keep fit and all but as a parent, I would have been hard for me to give the okay to do this. Man is she good.
Wow. That little one puts many adults to shame. I would have never expected it from her being so young.
She is one talented young girl. It is great to see young kids take on this kind of martial arts.
The article does not even state what martial art discipline performed by Jesse. Obviously the article is written based solely on the video and has little interest.
I agree with Jank. Regardless, I can always respect young people accepting the discipline and responsibility that comes with mastering a martial art. I hope she sticks with it.
