Tired Of Waiting For Your Amazon Package?

Online shopping has become one of the leading ways that people get their goods and services. People are living faster and hectic lives so it makes sense to outsource some of the daily shopping to people who can deliver what you need right to your door step. Amazon has built a multi-billion dollar company based on cheap prices, good customer service, and for those that have Amazon Prime, fast hassle free shipping. In the early days of online shopping the prices would always be augmented with some serious shipping fees that for most people made online shopping entirely not worth foregoing shopping themselves. But now, Amazon has pioneered online memberships that made shipping headaches a thing of the past for people who rely heavily on online shopping.

But, for the people who now supplement a large part of their lives by shopping on Amazon, their promise of free 2 day shipping on many of their items just isn’t fast enough for their needs. Amazon has seen the data and trends and have already begun to include one day shipping for many of their products as part of Amazon Prime. One of the biggest things standing in their way from things like same day or next day shipping is infrastructure. No matter how fast their distribution is, they will always be limited by the consumer end aka shipping companies like UPS, FedEX, or the USPS.

They have implemented things like Amazon Lockers with limited success. You’ve also probably heard that they are planning to develop a drone based delivery system to deliver your products right to your doorstep. Sounds great, but it’s still a long way away. In the meantime, Amazon is looking for other viable ways to bring stuff to you as fast as possible. In a recent deal, Amazon has acquired 20 Boeing 767 cargo jets. A pretty big step forward if it pays off. Amazon has been running secret trials with just 5 of these cargo jets since last summer and they feel that this is the best way to be free from third party logistics.

They leased the jets from the freight carrier Air Transport Services Group (ATSG).  With this deal they also retain the right to acquire another fifth of ATSG for about $600 million at their discretion. Experts say that they wouldn’t be surprised if Amazon buys ATSG in the next few years. In addition to this, Amazon is working out a deal with Boeing for as many new jets as they can get. If Amazon gains their own air-cargo network that would mean faster deliveries and potentially more savings for the customers. With Amazon losing money while also increasing stock value they are in very tricky place. This move might be the thing that makes them the king in the online shopping space.

  1. Amazon is no doubt one of the top eCommerce innovators of all times! They are the top and personal fav in my book! It will be very interesting to see how those new jets they are leasing and that drone technology fairs out over time. We shall see!

  2. I love Amazon. We recently started using Amazon Prime, but living in a rural area, the shipping is still very slow, but at least it is free. I would love to see them succeed at making it more efficient and user friendly for us country folks.

  3. Those are some huge upgrades for online shipping. I like Amazon, but I’ve read some negative reviews saying that it doesn’t post people’s complaints online and will only place blame on the products instead of the shipment. They definitely care about customer service so if they’re implementing jets and drones maybe they should tweak some of the little things like looking at claims faster.

  4. I have few experience buying from Amazon. Even though I’m not staying in US, the shipping duration and cost is still bearable.

  5. I have doing business with Amazon. Their customer support is one of the top worldwide. So far, I have never had any problems with package delivery with Amazon.

    1. Ditto to that. I have no complaints about their shipping at all so far. And I love their return policy. Glad their getting even better!

  6. Amazon has one of the best services in the world wide web. Love doing transactions through amazon! It’s great!

  7. “Amazon has built a multi-billion dollar company based on cheap prices, good customer service, and for those that have Amazon Prime, fast hassle free shipping.” It’s a sure way to win the hearts of all consumers worldwide!

  8. Anything that can make my packages arrive sooner for free, or at least at a reasonable cost, is a welcome idea. Any upgrade done in this area by Amazon, or any other online shopping company, would definitely bring in more customers for them.

  9. I order from Amazon all the time. I am so happy to see that new progress is being made for faster delivery.
