PS4 Pro Update: New Pro Controllers Revealed

Playstation has just announced that pro controllers much like the pro controllers XBOX has released will be available later this year. Earlier, when the XBOX One S was released we got a glimpse of a pro controller that competitive players could get their hands on. Needless to say, hardcore Playstation players yearned for something less clunky and more customizable than the standard controller. For a brief time a knock off PS4 Elite controller was released but they were largely ineffective rip offs of the XBOX One Elite controller. Now Sony has answered their prayers, two companies, Razer and Nacon, have been given the green light to construct their own versions of the pro controllers.

Razer is known for making powerful and reliable gaming peripherals and many professionals swear by them. Their take on the PS4 controller, called the Razer Raiju, is subtle but beautiful. The two joysticks are placed generally the same as the original controller but the palm rests have been redesigned for a more ergonomic efficiency. Meaning you can play harder for longer with less stress to your hands. They added a dedicated row of audio buttons for the dedicated player. One of the biggest competitive changes is the fact that they added two extra triggers and bumpers as well as two hot swappable configurations for all those buttons. That means you can change your playstyle on the fly depending on whatever situation you’re faced with.

Nacon is also a heavyweight when it comes to powerful gaming peripherals. They were famous for having some of the best Dance Dance Revolution and arcade style joysticks around. The Nacon Revolution is more drastically redesigned than the Razer controller. It actually resembles the XBOX One Elite controller which many players seem to prefer. The two joysticks are not adjacent to each other like a typical PS4 controller. The directional pad to the left switched places with one of the joysticks. This controller features an extra four buttons on the back of the controller. Where the Razer has two hot swappable button configurations, the Nacon has a companion PC application that has more customization features.

Neither price or a solid release date has been advertised yet but Sony promises we’ll have these by the end of the year. But something tells us that anyone serious enough to get a PS4 Pro can’t wait to get their hands on any competitive edge. We’ll soon find out whether or not these new controllers prove to be an unfair advantage in competition. All we know is we can’t wait for these and maybe even others to be released.
