Kickstarter Campaign Goes Viral: Raises Over $1 Million Dollars

This Kickstarter campaign promises to deliver on an idea that has been around since the smartphone began its technological reign as the most used technology of today. There is an old comparison that states today’s average smartphone has more computing power than all of NASA when we launched the first men into space and onto the moon. That means in the palm of your hand lies technology that is more powerful than an entire campus of buildings crammed full of computers that reached the ceiling.
It would only make sense for a smartphone to then replace a laptop right? Computer companies have been trying to cash in on that very idea for years with little success. The Superbook promises to actually transform your smartphone into a workable laptop. The idea is simple, you connect your Android device via USB cable to the computer shell that features a keyboard, screen, and it’s own battery, basically everything you need in a laptop except the processor and ram, the brains of a computer.
The real genius behind this project is that they developed their own operating system on the skeleton of Android that they call Andromium OS which is why for now, the Superbook will only work with Android devices. The OS is so popular that even though the Superbook hasn’t even launched yet, it has around half a million downloads with an average 4.2 star rating. That in itself is quite the accomplishment. Since they’ve already gone past their goal quite a few times, they now have some interesting stretch goals.
There will now be international language decals for the keyboard, an extra full-sized USB port, a bigger battery (increasing battery life from 8 hours to 10 hours), and for an extra $30 you can now add a 1080p resolution screen. There are other stretch goals on the horizon including a customizable sleeve with phone pocket at $1.5 million and even a backlit keyboard at $2 million.
