Are The Wikileaks Documents Against Clinton Fake?

The hacker group Wikileaks has revealed their latest mass dump of Clinton’s campaign emails. The emails belong to John Podesta, the chairman for Clinton’s campaign. He claims that Trump had knowledge of the attack before it took place. Currently, the FBI are investigating whether Russia had any links to providing the documents to Wikileaks. It will take some time to sift through the thousands of emails but there are some juicy tidbits. One of the biggest talking points for Trump is the fact that Clinton had received questions in advance of some public appearances as to make her seem more knowledgeable.
“Today we learned, amazingly, that the Department of Justice fed information to the Clinton campaign about the email investigation so that the campaign could be prepared to cover up her crimes,” Trump proudly told a Florida Rally. There are emails that also indicate that Clinton was informed about the investigation into her email leaks so that she would be better prepared to mitigate any damage or questions that were thrown her way. Though multiple investigations didn’t start until after she began her campaign, Trump has been playing up this card a lot.
Trump has been complaining during every debate that the moderators were in fact bias. The emails indicate that moderators for events such as Town Hall question and answer sessions were in fact bias toward Clinton. Other politically sensitive emails concerning Catholics and Evangelical Christians were discussed between Clinton campaign staffers. Of course, Trump is not completely innocent when it comes to religious politics. Just last year he publicly called Pope Francis “disgraceful.”
But, does it even matter if the documents are fake? The news outlet Newsweek claims to have proof that most of the so called leaked emails are in fact fake. Reporter Kurt Eichenwald claims to have figured out that the documents are fake. He was sifting through the documents when he realized that many of the emails seemed very familiar. Many of the emails were in fact strikingly similar to his own articles that attacked Clinton. While they were not lifted word for word, they were similar enough that even a college professor would cry plagiarism. He noticed that many other emails were basically critical pieces of writing from all over the political landscape and just reworded to sound like they came from Podesta or a Clinton campaign staffer. Whether that’s definitive proof on whether the entire leak was fake, it does call into question the authenticity of some of the more scathing emails.
